Claude Hudelot is a historian of contemporary China and has published several works on Mao Zedong. He is a producer for public radio station France Culture and for television, as well as a documentary filmmaker. His most recent film, Hou Bo, Xu Xiaobing, photographes de Mao (52’), co-directed with Jean-Michel Vecchiet, was produced by television channels France 2 and France 5.
He has been director of the Maison de la Culture de la Rochelle (1984-1987), the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie d’Arles (1988-1989), the Kansaï Franco-Japanese Institute and the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto (1994-1998), and cultural attaché to the French Embassy in China (1994-1997) and to the French General Consulate in Shanghai (2002-2007). Claude Hudelot was made a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres in 2006.
