Iranian artist and photographer Hannah Darabi studied at the School of Fine Arts in Tehran, Iran, then at Université Paris VIII, in France. Her country of origin remains the central theme of her work in photography. She creates series in which photography interacts with other media, such as text, archival images, and objects, to express the complex political situation of Iran. Her work and books of art are held by public and private collections. In 2022, she was attributed the Bernd und Hilla Becher Prize by the city of Düsseldorf, Germany, for the entirety of her oeuvre.
