Mari Bastashevski
Born 1980, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Lives and works globaly.
Mari Bastashevski combines her practices as photographer, writer, and researcher. Her works have been exhibited at Musée de l’Elysée, HKW Berlin, Glass Room, Art Souterrain, Noorderlicht, the Open Society Foundations, and East Wing; and published by Prix Pictet, Time Magazine, The New York Times, Courrier International, Le Monde, IBTimes, and VICE amongst others. She was finalist of 2014 Prix Elysée, held a 2011 residency at the Cité des Arts, and was awarded a Magnum Emergency Grant in 2012, and Abigail Cohen Fellowship in 2016. Bastashevski was a 2016 World Fellow and a current resident fellow at the Information Society Project Fellow at Yale. In February 2017 she was an artist in Residency at Popps Packing in Detroit.
