Christophe GAILLARD
Christophe Gaillard Gallery, Director, France
3 Afternoon & 4 Morning
Christophe Gaillard, who holds degrees in modern literature and musicology, became familiar with contemporary art by going to museums, auctions and bookstores while he was still the stage manager for William Christie’s Arts Florissants, the Opéra Bastille, the Opéra Garnier, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the Opéra de Lyon.
A collector, in 2007 he opened the Galerie Christophe Gaillard on rue de Thorigny in the Marais district of Paris. In October 2015, the gallery moved into a hôtel particulier made up of two separate spaces at 5 rue Chapon. In 2023, he opened a new space in Brussels in a mansion opposite the future Pompidou-Kanal.
He opened an atypical venue in a 17th-century château in Normandy hosting a sculpture park, artists in residence and exhibitions.
The Galerie Christophe Gaillard organizes the first shows of young contemporary artists as well as exhibitions by confirmed artists such as Hélène Delprat, Anita Molinero, Chiharu Shiota, Isabelle Le Minh, Julien des Monstiers, Marina Gadonneix, Eric Baudart, Stéphane Couturier and Smith. The gallery also promotes artists from the 1960s and ‘70s, including Richard Nonas, Michel Journiac and Daniel Pommereulle, whom it exclusively represents and whose work it presents in the light of current practices.
The Galerie Christophe Gaillard participates in many international fairs, including Art Basel, Art Basel Miami, Frieze Masters, FIAC, Art Brussels, Artissima and Paris Photo. Christophe Gaillard also publishes catalogues, artists’ books and monographs on the artists he represents.
