Celina Lunsford is a curator of photography and other media. She is the artistic director of the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt, a major photographic art center since 1992. Lunsford is responsible for the exhibitions program, the FFF Academy and co-curator for the RAY Triennale. Diverse perspectives in photography which are capable of long term impact are what she chooses to exhibit or support. Additionally she edits and writes for artists. Lunsford has been a juror and nominator for many prizes, including the Shpilman International Prize and the Prix Pictet; she has curated and written for other organizations such as Fundación Mapfre, Fundación Telefonica, Photography Festival Lodz and Lianzhou International Photography Festival. She writes for photographers and has mentored for Olympus Recommended Award, the Joop Swart Masterclass and ASEF (Asia-Europe Foundation) Forum for Photographers.
Recent publications include, Ideologies: RAY 2021 (Kehrer Verlag, Heidelberg, 2021), Peter Fink. My Mind’s Eye (Kehrer Verlag, Heidelberg, 2020) and Picture Languages, Photographic Art from Georgia (Societäts Verlag, Frankfurt, 2018). Lunsford was 2010-2018 the Vice President of the DFA (German Academy of Photography). In 2022 Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences named her Honorary Professor.
Andrea Horvay currently works as a curator at Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (FFF). As an art historian specialised in photography, she supported the programme of FFF as press officer and helped organise the FFF Academy, selecting a programme of lectures, discussions and workshops with international experts and photographers. She was the managing editor for the international photography triennial RAY publication, based in Frankfurt and at the FFF. From 2009 to 2011 she worked at Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf in the department of exhibition management.
Horvay has written essays about 20 century art and photography, for example about Arnulf Rainer, Daniel Spoerri, Thomas Struth, ZERO. Currently Horvay consults with FFF’s artistic director Celina Lunsford, in researching for dynamic contemporary and historical projects which have not yet been seen in Germany for exhibition at the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt, the FFF Academy or for the RAY triennial. Some particular themes which she is looking for deal with society, youth, and biographical issues.
